About Us

The North Vancouver Island Culinary Association (NVICA), established as a society in 2006, is a proud branch of the Canadian Culinary Federation (CCF) and a member of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS). We unite chefs and cooks from Bowser to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, fostering culinary excellence, driving industry growth, and building a thriving network for our members. From seasoned professionals to rising stars, NVICA is dedicated to inspiring, connecting, and elevating the culinary community across the region.

As part of the Culinary Federation which has represented professional chefs and cooks across Canada since 1963, NVICA embodies a tradition of commitment to professional excellence. The Canadian Culinary Federation, incorporated as a non-profit in 1972, unites culinary professionals nationwide through networking, education, and career development opportunities. This connection provides NVICA members with access to a national and international network of resources and job opportunities, ensuring professional growth and invaluable connections.

NVICA is deeply committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, mindful food choices, and global culinary awareness. Through partnerships with local high schools and colleges, we help aspiring chefs develop the in-demand skills needed to thrive in today’s culinary world. We are also proud to support deserving members with financial assistance for their education.

As a not-for-profit society, NVICA is led by a volunteer-based elected Board of Directors, adhering to the CCF’s national bylaws and charter. Our mission is to promote professionalism in the food service industry, provide a robust network for chefs and cooks, and educate our members and the public on new industry developments. Together, we strive to strengthen the culinary fabric of North Vancouver Island and beyond.
